Tunga means to create.
Our name, our logo and how to use them. Everything here is free to download and use when you write or build something with us.
Kutunga — to create, to compose, to make
Tunga is a Swahili word. Kutunga means to create, to compose, to put something together — the word used for composing a poem, writing a story, making a thing that did not exist before.
It is a maker's word, and that is the whole idea. We are not here to talk about artificial intelligence. We are here to build with it: the strategy, the technology and the habits that make it work inside a business.
The mark carries the same thought. Two halves turning around an open centre — many parts working as one system, with space left in the middle for what you bring to it.
We are a Kenyan company and the name stays in Kiswahili wherever we work. It is written lower case, as one word: tunga ai.
The lockup, the wordmark and the mark
The lockup
The mark and the wordmark together. This is the default logo — use it wherever there is room. The wordmark is set in Lufga Bold and is never retyped by hand.
The wordmark
The name on its own, without the mark. Use it in wide, shallow spaces — document headers, email signatures, slide footers, sponsor rows — or wherever the mark already appears nearby and repeating it would be noise.
The mark
The mark on its own, for avatars, app icons, favicons and small spaces — anywhere the wordmark would be unreadable. It is also used large and faint as a watermark behind cards and sections.
Every PNG has a transparent background and clear space built in — the lockup and wordmark 1200px wide for screens and documents, 2400px for print and large formats. Need the lockup as vector artwork, or a format not listed here? Email hi@tunga.co and we will send it.
Give it room, keep it whole
- Keep clear space around the logo — at least the height of the mark on every side.
- Use the primary lockup wherever there is room for it.
- Put the white lockup on photography, never the charcoal one.
- Keep the mark at 24px or larger on screen, 10mm in print.
- Don’t recolour the logo outside the four files provided.
- Don’t stretch, squash, rotate or add effects to it.
- Don’t rebuild the wordmark in another typeface.
- Don’t place it on a busy part of an image or a clashing colour.
Two colours do the work
The brand colour. Accents, buttons, the “ai” in the logo, one idea per screen.
Headings and body text. Dark sections and the footer.
Quiet background for sections that need separating from white.
The default ground. Cards, space, room to breathe.
Burgundy is an accent, not a background. One burgundy idea per screen — a button, a heading full stop, a single card — and let white and paper carry the rest.
Two typefaces, clearly divided
The wordmark only. Lufga Bold draws the words “tunga ai” in the logo and is never used for headings, body copy or slides.
Everything else: headings, body copy, documents, decks and the product. Medium for headings, Regular for body, Bold for small capitalised labels.
Both typefaces are licensed, so the files are not offered for download here. If you are producing work for Tunga and need them, email hi@tunga.co. Where neither is available, set text in Inter or the system sans — never substitute the wordmark.
Four motifs, used quietly
One motif per surface, at low opacity, never behind body text. They are texture, not decoration — if a pattern is the first thing you notice, it is too strong.
How Tunga sounds
Plain, not clever
We write the way we would explain something across a table. Short sentences. No jargon where a normal word works.
Business first
We lead with the business problem and the result, not the technology. AI is how, not why.
Specific, not grand
We name the work, the sector and the outcome. We avoid sweeping claims about revolutions and disruption.
Confident, not loud
We state what we do and what it takes. No hype, no exclamation marks, no hard sell.
Real rooms, real people, real work.
- 01Real people doing real work — teams, founders, operators, in their own spaces.
- 02African businesses and settings, photographed honestly, not staged as stock.
- 03Natural light, true colour, ordinary rooms and machines.
- 04Never glowing brains, robot hands, circuit boards or blue sci-fi gradients.
